So it turns out quitting my job, changing my name and moving out the country doesn’t heal trauma.

I am happier than I’ve ever been, healthier, and my quality of life has drastically improved. However, I am still dealing with PTSD and it shows up in funny and unexpected ways. As a content creator, I often struggle with creator’s anxiety. Many people think that because I share my life on social media, that it’s easy for me but it’s not I just have to continue to show up because my purpose is bigger than me.

I meditate, I meditate and I burn sage but I still have anxiety, and PTSD.

Well, trauma changes the brain and I have had a lot of traumatic events in my life starting in childhood. My mother abused drugs and my father abused me, and it turns out these adversities f**ks children up who later become adults possibly fucking up others.

We cannot run from our traumas we must face them.

As a digital nomad, I’ve been looking for a remote therapist. I found one but didn’t know she was one until after we became friends and she doesn’t consult friends. Also, I am more comfortable telling all my business to a stranger who won’t bring it up when they are angry.

What is Online Therapy and How Does it Work?

Like with in-person therapy you speak to a licensed therapist who specializes in mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, ADHD, and phobias. When you first sign up you fill out a questionnaire so they can match you with a therapist, but first, you must confirm that you are not suicidal or homicidal. They will ask if you prefer a male or female, religious or spiritual, LGBTQ+ and even if you’d like a counselor of color. I was happy when I saw this as I really wanted a black therapist.

You are then paired with your therapist who will most likely message you introducing themselves. You can send a short reply then book a live session with your therapist.
